Calling all First Peoples artists in the North West!
The Assembly is setting up shop in Swan Hill, and we want some deadly artworks to help welcome Community into our new space.
We are seeking 4 artists to create or submit 4 original artworks that are grounded in Culture and connection to Country. These artworks will be acquired by the Assembly and displayed with pride in our Swan Hill office.
Each winning artist will receive $1,500 for their artwork.

Eligibility
To be eligible to enter, you must be:
- A First Nations person who lives in the North West region of Victoria; or
- A Traditional Owner of Country, where that Country is in the North West of Victoria

What we are looking for
- Originality of work
- Your Voice
- Culturally responsible works, no appropriated art styles, or stories if they are not connected to your language groups
- Consideration of place
- Works that will be eye catching and thought provoking
- Colour and life
Medium ideas
- Paintings
- Sculptures
- Possum Skins or Cloaks
- Wood carvings and burnings
- Woven baskets and objects
- Any other cultural or creative mediums you enjoy!
Selection criteria
Artworks will be assessed based on:
- Strength and originality of the artwork
- Connection to Culture and Country
How to apply
Submissions must include:
- Photo/s of the finished artwork
- Artwork dimensions
- A description of the meaning and/or making of the artwork
- Artist bio (up to 300 words): Share a bit about yourself, your art practice, and what Treaty means to you.
- Confirmation of eligibility: Tell us which clan or nation you belong to and where you live in Victoria
