
This week saw the last meeting of the second term of the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria.
Members gathered at the Royal Exhibition Building to discuss the final steps towards Gellung Warl, as committed to in Statewide Treaty.







Members took part in a Walking Tour of Fitzroy, reflecting and learning about the rich Aboriginal history of this special place.
From the old Koori Club & Aboriginal Housing Board of Victoria buildings on Gertrude Street to the statue of Uncle Archie Roach and Aunty Ruby Hunter and tribute to the Stolen Generations in Atherton Gardens. It was a deadly morning of yarning on culture, drawing on collective memory and power.










Chris Harrison, Reserved Seat for Barengi Gadjin Land Council Aboriginal Corporation, gave his inaugural speech to the Assembly.

The meeting concluded with final speeches from Co-chairs Rueben Berg and Ngarra Murray, followed by a cultural handover ceremony of the Yulwa to the Elders’ Voice.
