Join us for a Community Possum Skin Burning workshop and free feed at The Gathering Place.
This special workshop aims to create a possum skin cloak to celebrate Treaty! All First Peoples artists, Elders and cultural knowledge holders are welcome.
The project will bring together possum skins with designs and motifs from communities across Victoria. These will be used to make two Treaty Cloaks for ceremonial use by Gelling Warl, the First Peoples’ representative body established by the Treaty.
The workshop will begin with a smoking ceremony and teach skills in cloak creation. Participants will develop designs, cut and burn skins and use all necessary equipment for drawing, burning and etching.
The event will run from 11am to 2pm at the Gathering Place, Morwell.
